This temple, over 150 years old, is the spiritual heart of Broga. Legend says that during the Japanese occupation, mysterious cries from the temple preceded a sudden military retreat, saving the village. Locals believe it was divine intervention from Sinna Tua

Within the Sak Dato Temple grounds in Broga stands a towering 72-foot golden statue of Sun Wukong—the Monkey King—making it the tallest of its kind in ASEAN. Built in 2011 to reflect the legendary “72 transformations” of the deity, it has been officially recognized by the Malaysia Book of Records.

The statue, poised with a staff and a vigilant gaze, overlooks the temple and surrounding hills. Visitors can reach it via a scenic bridge and hillside trail, offering panoramic views from its base platform.

> “Sun Wukong represents not just myth, but the spirit of courage and transformation.”

The temple has also released commemorative stamps and souvenirs featuring the statue, turning it into a cultural pilgrimage site that blends faith, education, and tourism.

Broga Hill

📍

Broga Hill is a beloved hiking spot, especially at sunrise when mist rolls over the hills and tall grass sways in the breeze. Though modest in height, it offers serenity and a sense of personal triumph.

Broga New Village

In the 1950s, Broga was designated a “black area” due to communist activity. The British established a fenced New Village with curfews and rationing. Though the wire is gone, the memories remain vivid.

Grilled Fish & Coconut Ice Blends

Local grilled fish restaurants by the pond serve home-raised fish with smoky flavor. The “Boyfriend Coconut Ice Blend” is a signature treat—refreshing and subtly sweet.

Closing Thoughts

> "History is not meant to revisit pain, but to remind us to cherish peace."

> In  Kg Baru Broga, what I saw was more than temples and hills—it was the posture of people safeguarding their faith amidst turmoil.

> This journey was not merely a movement of footsteps, but a deep settling of the soul.
